Full Hearts, Full Bellies!

This summer, we are reminded that God calls us to pray and act.

Full Hearts, Full Bellies WorkShip
Sunday, July 14

What is a WorkShip?

In short, a WorkShip is a time when we BECOME the sermon during Sunday worship by engaging in an activity that serves our neighbors. We will still have communion, a few songs, and a brief sermon, but most of our time will be spent packing nutritious and appetizing shelf-stable lunches for underserved preschool aged children in our area.

Why are we Doing This?

During her needs assessment project, Vicar Amber learned that there are 10,830 food-insecure preschool-aged children in Montgomery County. That is a LOT of hungry kiddos, many of whom have fewer food resources when schools and programs go on summer break. We can help do something about it by providing shelf-stable lunches for Kid’s Meals Inc. to deliver to families in need.

What is our Call?

During our WorkShip, we are assembling the shelf-stable lunches to be delivered to children experiencing hunger in Montgomery County.

  • Baseline Goal: 250 lunches
  • Ambitious Goal: 375 lunches
  • Shoot for the Moon Goal: 500 lunches

As we lead up to July 14, we are collecting the items we need for these lunches. There are two ways to contribute items to this drive:

  1. Go Shopping! And then drop your items off in the Worship Space on Sunday mornings. See the list below for needed items.
  2. Head to our Amazon Wish List, order items, and have them shipped directly to the church.

Up until July 14th, please bring your donations of the following or similar shelf-stable items to worship:
