Blessing of the Animals

On the first Sunday of October, the church remembers the life of Saint Francis of Assisi.

A powerful example of what it means to follow Jesus, Saint Francis is especially known for his love of God’s creation – his connection especially to the animals all around us.

At Spirit of Joy!, we mark this occasion by blessing our pets!

All who worship are invited to bring their pets with them, and during the service we offer a special blessing for our animal companions.

Over the years we have blessed dogs and cats, and also snakes and turtles, birds and hamsters.

• If you have a pet who is would not do well with others on Sunday morning, bring a picture of them or their favorite toy.
• If you lost a pet this year, bring a picture so that we can remember them.
