Who We Are

Spirit of Joy! is a community of people who are committed to growing deeper in our faith, and living with generous love in the world.

Our members come from a variety of church backgrounds—or no background at all. For many of us, this is the place that best lives out what we believe a church should be: compassionate, loving, and kind.

What is Worship Like?

At Spirit of Joy!, our worship is casual, contemporary, and follows a traditional order.

If you come from a more traditional church, you will recognize many of the elements of the service and their familiar wording. If you come from a more contemporary church, you will recognize many of our songs and worship.

On any given Sunday, you will see some people wearing jeans, some wearing shorts, some wearing a shirt an tie. We wear what makes us comfortable as we come to worship.

Every Sunday we celebrate Holy Communion. At our church, everyone who worships with us is welcome to come to Communion as they feel comfortable doing so.

Children of every age are welcome in worship.

We worship every Sunday at 10:00 am.

Worship is also live streaming every Sunday on our Facebook page and the Spirit of Joy! App.

What is a Lutheran?

The Lutheran tradition reaches back to the beginning of the Protestant movement. Rooted firmly in the Christian tradition, Lutherans focus on the grace of God, and the compassion love shown to us in Jesus Christ. Spirit of Joy! is a member congregation of the Gulf Coast Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

What We Believe
We are firmly rooted in the Christian tradition, accepting the historic creeds and the affirmations of the nature of God made human in the person of Jesus Christ. Our Christianity is of the Lutheran “flavor” – a tradition with a strong emphasis on the grace of God.

In addition, as a congregation, we hold to four core values: we value our Lutheran roots, inclusive welcome, generous living, and a growing faith. You can read more about our beliefs and values here.

We are a Reconciling in Christ congregation, which means that we are committed to the full inclusion of all people.
